OPENING PRAYER

Vande Gurunam Caranaravinde Sandarsita Svatma Sukhava Bodhe
Nih Sreyase Jangalikayamane Samsara Halahala Mohasantyai
Abahu Purusakaram Sankhacakrasi Dharinam

I bow to the lotus feet of the Supreme Guru, the teachers, teachers, teachers . . .
Which awakens insight into the happiness of pure Being, moves us from ignorance to knowledge,
The refuge, the jungle physician,
Which eliminates the poison of delusion caused by Samsara (conditioned existence).
Taking the form of a man to the shoulders,
Holding a conch shell (divine sound), a wheel (discus of light or infinite time) and a sword (discrimination).
Who has one thousand heads white,
To the sage Patanjali, I bow.

CLOSING PRAYER
Om
Svastiprajabhyah Paripalayantam Nyayena Margena Mahim Mahisah
Gobrahmanebhyah Subhamastu Nitym Lokasamasta Sukhinobhavantu
Om Shanti, Shanti, Shantihi
May all be well with humankind.
May the leaders of the Earth protect in every way by keeping to a virtuous path.
May there be goodness for those who know the Earth to be sacred. And may all that comes to you, be given to all.
May all the worlds be happy.
Om peace, peace, peace.

DENA KINGSBERG's, translation of the opening prayer:
I bow with deepest reverence to the source that inspires these teachings.
Through the continuation of practice may we each be guided from the darkness of ignorance, to the light of self-knowledge and clarity.
For those who have walked the path before and light the way,
and for those who keep us company in practice each day, let us be truly grateful.
